MedPath ("we," "our," or "the app") is an educational mobile application designed for students in grades 6-12. We are committed to protecting your privacy, especially given that our users may include minors. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Information We Collect

MedPath collects minimal information, all stored locally on your device:

Grade level — Selected during onboarding to personalize content difficulty

Interest areas — Selected during onboarding to tailor article topics (e.g., "Surgery," "Neuroscience")

Bookmarked articles — Saved locally so you can revisit favorite lessons

Learning progress — Completed lessons, streak count, and last active date

Display preferences — Dark mode setting

Topic history — A list of previously shown article titles to ensure you receive new content each time

All of this data is stored exclusively on your device using local storage. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on our servers.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

No names, email addresses, or contact information

No location data

No photos, camera, or microphone access

No device identifiers or advertising IDs

No browsing history or usage analytics

No social media accounts or third-party logins

No payment or financial information

4. Account Registration

MedPath does not require account creation, login, or registration of any kind. The app is fully functional without providing any personal information.

5. Third-Party Services

MedPath uses a third-party AI service (Groq) to generate educational content. When content is generated:

Your grade level and interest areas are sent to the AI service to personalize content

No personally identifiable information is transmitted

The AI service does not receive your name, location, device ID, or any other personal data

Generated content is cached temporarily on our server to improve performance

6. Data Storage and Security

All user preferences and progress data are stored locally on your device

Our server does not maintain any user accounts or persistent user data

Content is temporarily cached on the server for performance but contains no personal information

Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

MedPath is designed for students ages 11-18. We take children's privacy seriously:

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13

No personal information is required to use the app

All data remains on the user's device

No behavioral tracking or targeted advertising is used

Parents/guardians can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing app data in device settings

8. Advertising

MedPath contains no advertisements of any kind.

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share any user data with third parties. There is no user data to share.

10. Your Rights and Controls

You can at any time:

Reset your preferences by tapping "Redo Onboarding" in Settings

Remove all bookmarks individually from the Bookmarks tab

Delete all app data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage in your device settings

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
